Many of you have probably heard of The Shining movie, but did you know that it was originally a book by Stephen King? Well, this psycological thriller had me at "HOLY SHITZU!" But seriously, this book is so wonderfully creepy that I just had to tell you why.
The book is about when the Torrence family moves to the Overlook Hotel so that the father, Jack, can become the winter caretaker. When the family gets there, some really messed up shitzu happens. The son, Danny, has always struggled with psychic premonitions, or seeing the future/past, and as his visions get more disturbing, Jack starts to find out about the hotels' past. As he does this, he gets more and more mentally disturbed, causing him to go on a (pardon my French) hell-bent and homicidal mission to terrorize his family.
This book...wow. I mean wow. It is so terrifying that I had to call my friend, who was also reading the book, to make sure she was okay. Seriously, it was crazy. I think the scariest part of it is that it could actually happen to somebody. People in real life go crazy, kids can get visions, families can move to Colorado! It all could happen, really. This is one of the reasons why Stephen King is so successful, because he makes you belive that all this messed up stuff can happen to you.
A word of warning, DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU ARE OVER 12 YEARS OLD AND CAN HANDLE SCARY STUFF. THIS BOOK IS SCARY AF. Heed my warning or pee your pants.
